Studio 60...still not funny

OK, so I gave it another chance.

Harriet still isn't funny (or all that talented from what I can see), the back-stories are lame and uninspired, Matt's "brilliant writing" is far from brilliant...or close to writing as the absolutely horrible show-within-a-show demonstrates.

Indeed, the series feels like a heavily watered-down version of The West Wing, dammit.

On the other hand, 30 Rock is much better than it has a right to be.

Sorry Studio 60 didn't work for you. On the other hand, I watched the premier of 30 Rock and came away saying "eh".

It was trying hard to be funny but it didn't work for me most of the time. I was really dissapointed becuase I had high hopes for Tina Fey's new show. I'm not giving up yet, but I hope it gets better.

I'm with you, Alan. All of the pre-buzz I heard was that Studio 60 was great, 30 Rock was just average, but so far (and I know that there has only been one 30 Rock) so far it has been the opposite. Surprisingly so for 30 Rock.

I actually liked Sarah Paulsen this past show, though Sorkin has to be bummed that Amy Poehler did a kick-ass Nancy Grace a few weeks ago that made Harriet's look pedestrian.

You know what I think? Sorkin should let the actors improv the show within the show part, just as they might in real life. Record that part without cuts, as it happens, no second takes. I'd think that Corddry and Hughley at least have great improv skills, and the rest should if they do not.

I almost feel let down, you know?

Things are not looking good for Studio 60. NBC is moving Friday Night Lights to Monday 10 pm on October 30th - they say one week only, but we'll see.

The move is probably an attempt to carryover the audience from Heroes to FNL.
